Robert "Bob" Koch,
Sr. - Southport
Robert “Bob” Koch,
Sr. of Southport, NC and formerly of Chatham, NY, passed
away February 25th surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on
August 11, 1935 in Albany, NY to the late Paul and
Kathleen Koch. After graduating from Chatham High
School, he enlisted in the Army. After his military
service he went to work at Crellin Plastics in Chatham
where he remained for his entire career. Bob was an
active member of the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department
for decades and he made many dear friends there. He
enjoyed living in Chatham and lived there until he
retired in 1997 and moved to Southport, NC. Bob had
fifteen wonderful years of retirement in North Carolina
where he enjoyed the warm weather and was able to pursue
his loves of gardening, fishing and cooking.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years Judith
(Wheeler) Koch; his children Kathleen Morrone, Robert
Koch, Jr., and Lynnette Koch; grandchildren Christopher
Abrams and Sarah Abrams; and great-grandson Cameron
Abrams. He is also survived by his brother Paul Koch
(Anita) and two nephews.
To honor Bob’s wishes there will be no formal services.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s name may be made
to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454,
Alexandria, VA 22312.
