Julia M. Carpenter - St. James

Julia M. Carpenter - St. JamesJulia M. Carpenter passed away on April 1, 2013 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick in Bolivia.

Judy was born in Washington, D.C. on September 16, 1946, daughter of the late Richard and Eleanor Marks. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard P. (Carolina) Marks, Jr. and John A. Marks.

Judy was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School and Strayer Junior College in Washington, D.C. After graduation she was employed by several law firms in the Washington area and later managed a real estate office. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.

Judy was an extremely talented lady who loved to play the piano, sing, paint, sew, stitch and quilt. She was also an avid golfer. She served her community by volunteering at the New Hope Clinic, Rally for the Cure at St. James, and singing with Traveling Serendipity. She was a member of the church choir and Sea Notes.

Surviving are her husband Albert M. Carpenter, Jr.; brother, Joseph W. Marks (Sheran); eight nieces and nephews; thirteen grand nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Ceane Marks and Sue (Doug) Lucas. She is also survived by many special family members and loving and caring friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, April 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport. A reception will follow in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SECU Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane SE, Bolivia, NC 28422.
