Jeanne Mary Kranz -
Southport
Jeanne
Mary Kranz of Southport, formerly of the Washington, DC
area, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Dosher
Memorial Hospital, after a quick fight with COPD that
she was not strong enough to win.
Jeanne was born in
Chicago, IL, to the late Albert Lubin and Evelyn
Binderman. She retired as a Budget Analyst with the
Department of the Interior after more than two decades
of “pushing numbers around.”
Jeanne is survived by her partner, Anne Henschel, with
whom she shared nearly 24 incredible years. She also
leaves behind sons Adam (Lori) of San Diego, CA, and
David of Dumfries, VA, and daughter Julie of Santa
Barbara, CA. The pride of her recent years was the birth
of Adam and Lori’s son, Kyle. Her two other
grandchildren, Alex and Regan, also live in California.
Other survivors include her aunt, Florence Binderman,
brother, Jimmy Lubin, sister Joyce Owens, and all the
members of Anne’s family, including Anne’s son
Christopher Warner, who considered Jeanne to be a second
Mom.
Jeanne loved living in Southport. She loved her home in
Arbor Creek, the many friends she made since moving
here, the spectacular sunsets, her lunches at Dry Street
Pub & Pizza, and southern sweet tea. She will be
remembered for her quick wit, her ability to talk to
anyone about anything, her braided pony tail, and all
the love and support she gave her partner.
Jeanne’s ashes will be scattered in Southport and a
celebration of life held at a future date; she loved the
warm springtime weather so she will be honored when the
weather improves.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be to the US Holocaust
Museum, Washington DC in Jeanne’s name.
