Lewis F. "Pete" Moody III - Southport

Mr. Lewis F. “Pete” Moody III age 78 of Southport died peacefully at his home on Saturday June 16, 2012.

Mr. Moody was born in Detroit, Michigan and was the son of the late Lewis F. Moody Jr. and Phebe Peacock Moody. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Moody retired after 32 years of employment in the fluid dynamics field. He was a faithful member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Southport and prior to is illness he served on the church vestery and was a member of the choir.

Mr. Moody loved scuba diving and was a volunteer and lead diver with the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. He enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking, eating and sailing. He loved spending time with his family. He sang with the SeaNotes.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Moody; three children, Kathryn Benjamin and husband Lee of Lexington, Ma., Marcia Love and husband Robin of Galax, Va., Lewis Frank Moody and wife Melody McMahon of Hillsboro, N.J.; four grandchildren, Judy-Lynn, Tabitha, Sabrina, Emily; a brother, William Moody and wife Carole of Pinehurst, NC; his twin sister, Pam Harkins and husband Arthur of Exeter, NH.; three cousins and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held Wednesday June 20, 2012 at 11am at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Barry Kubler officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at the church memorial garden.
