James F. “Jim” Splawn - Bolivia

Mr. James Franklin “Jim” Splawn age 79 of Bolivia died Monday September 24, 2012 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center, Bolivia.

Jim was born in Polk County, N.C. on May 14, 1933 and was the son of the late John R. and Ollie Edwards Splawn. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Splawn and five brothers and three sisters. Mr. Splawn retired from the City of Southport Electrical Department and was a charter member of the Southport Rescue Squad and also served with the Southport Fire Department. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed sharing his hunting skills with the young men in the Southport community. He was a Master Gardner, loving husband, Dad, Granddad and father in-law.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Joyce Price Splawn; a son, Johnny Splawn of the home; three daughters, Vickie Camp of Bolivia, Carleen Kennedy of Southport, Nancy Clemmons of Bolivia; a brother, Donald Splawn of Mill Spring, NC; a sister, Jennie Ward of Charlotte; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday September 27, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one prior to the funeral service.
