George Edgar Eller -
George Edgar Eller, 84 of Oak Island passed away on
Sunday, November 18, 2012 at New Hanover Regional
Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mr. Eller was born
August 7, 1928 in Forsyth County, NC the son of the late
George W. Eller and Mattie Robins Eller. He grew up in
the Huntersville / Cornelius area. He was the owner /
operator of Oakhurst Upholstery in Charlotte and retired
in 1993. Mr. Eller was a member of First Baptist Church
of Oak Island and a former member of First Baptist
Church of Cornelius. He has served as a deacon in both
churches. Mr. Eller was known of his Fred Astaire
dancing, and he and his wife were an award winning
couple. Mr. Eller was a devoted husband, father, and
grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family
and friends. He loved people and was a friend for life
and a self-made man. Mr. Eller was a compassionate man
and will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He
was preceded in death by a son David Lee Eller and a
grandson Christopher Michael Eller.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years Dorothy “Dottie”
Shepherd Eller; a son Michael Eller and wife Diane of
Oak Island; a daughter-in-law Linda Eller of
Mooresville; and two step-grandchildren, Kelly Surratt
and Brad Walton.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday,
November 25, 2012 at Fist Baptist Church of Oak Island
with Reverend Charlie Carter and Reverend Rick Ables
officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00
to 3:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
