Eulene Stidham Lee - Southport

Eulene Stidham Lee - SouthportEulene Stidham Lee "Me-Maw", a faithful servant of The Most High God, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the home.

Sister Eulene, as she was known by all, was born in Kentucky on January 13, 1931. She was the daughter of the late Malcolm and Julia Stidham. As a young woman, Sis Eulene lived in Wilmington and was a supervisor at Century Mills on Greenfield Street. From 1949 to 1963 she was married to the late Allen Cary Lee. During these early years of her life she began attending the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ on South Carolina Ave. in Wilmington. It was at this small church that her life would change after receiving the Holy Ghost.

In 1963 Sis Eulene moved to Southport and began a work for the Lord in a small church on W. West St. Her life’s desire was to do what the Lord wanted her to do. In 1965 she met two lady evangelists, Sis Betty McKendrie and Sis Daphina McGill. The three of them began a life-long work in spreading the gospel. Together the ladies united to keep the gospel fires burning when they began Midway Apostolic Church on Highway 211 in Bolivia. Upon the death of Sis McGill in 1990, Sis Eulene became the assistant pastor. Following the death of Sis McKendrie in 2005, Sis Eulene became the pastor until her health declined in 2010.

Sis Eulene was the owner of Day Care for Tiny Tots in Southport for 25 years, where she was known and loved by many, many children and parents. It was here that she became affectionately known as Me-Maw.

In the 81 years that the Lord gave Sis Eulene she was blessed to have many great accomplishments. Her greatest accomplishment was her work for the Lord. She served Him with all her might and from the depth of her heart. She not only taught the Apostolic Doctrine as recorded in the Book of Acts, but lived it fully. Truly the Lord will be able to say “Well done thy good and faithful servant”.

Sis Eulene will be deeply missed. She was a very compassionate lady; she had a terrific sense of humor and loved to laugh.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit Stidham and Jake Stidham and a sister Faye Stidham Swain.

Surviving are her daughter, Donna Lee Atkinson and husband Willard of Boiling Spring Lakes; a grandson Daniel Atkinson and wife Stephanie of Oak Island; a granddaughter Kristie Watts and husband David of Southport; and a brother Carl Stidham and wife Perlina of Leland. The Lord blessed Sis Eulene with someone that stood by her till the end and was a most beloved friend, Pam Bumgardner.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Peacock – Newnam & White Funeral Service in Southport. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 16, 2012 in the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, formerly known as Midway Apostolic Church, on Highway 211 in Bolivia. Reverend Charles Drew, Reverend Bradley Walker, and Revered Paul Brantley will officiate the service and burial will follow in the Northwood Cemetery in Southport.
