Anthony
“Tony” John Buckley, 74 of St. James, passed away
peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer
on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
Tony along with
his wife Joan, owned Thompson Ridge Gardens, a landscape
nursery in Bullville, New York. Tony loved retirement in
Southport. He volunteered with Kiwanis, Knights of
Columbus, and the St. James Infrastructure Committee.
Tony loved his family, friends, golf and traveling. He
was preceded in death by a son Anthony Buckley Jr.
Surviving is his
wife of 53 years Joan Buckley; three sons, Michael
Buckley and wife Barbara, Jon Buckley, and Jeffrey
Buckley all of Upstate, New York; a daughter Alison
Lysne of Vancouver, Washington; a daughter-in-law
Francine Buckley of Pine Bush, New York; five
grandchildren, Danielle Lysne, Anthony Buckley, David
Pauley, Benjamin Lysne, and Nicholas Lysne; and three
great grandchildren, Amy Lysne, Leah Lysne, and Alyssa
Lysne.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday,
December 12, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A
reception will follow at the Founders Club in St. James
at 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape
Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center, 1414 Physicians Drive
Wilmington, NC 28401.
