Mildred
Evangeline Silveira, 86, of Southport died Tuesday
June 28, 2011.
Mrs. Silveira was born in Diamond Bluff, Wisconsin
on October 10, 1924 and was the daughter of the late
Anton and Mary Bystrum Hanson. Prior to marriage,
she worked for the IRS and after her children were
grown, she became a successful real estate broker in
Berkshire County, Massachusetts. She was predeceased
by three brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Silveira;
four sons, Manuel Silveira and wife Robin, Paul
Silveira, John Silveira, Edward Silveira all of
Massachusetts; three daughters, Mary Silveira of
Southport, Marilyn LaFreniere of West Virginia,
Beverly Carpenter and husband Robert of Virginia;
six grandchildren, Michael LaFreniere, Jeremy
LaFreniere, Jordan Martin, Tristan Carpenter,
Kristen Silveira, Matthew Silveira; three great
grandchildren, Michael LaFreniere, Joseph LaFreniere,
Isabella LaFreniere; a brother, Russell Hanson and
wife Alice of Wisconsin.
The family is grateful to the Lower Cape Fear
Hospice. Funeral services were held July 1 at the
chapel of Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service,
Southport with Father Doug Lawson officiating.
Burial followed in Northwood Cemetery.
