June 23, 2012 - Southport, NC - It was a country rocking good time at the first Southport Beat in Downtown Southport Friday, June 15th. Participating shops were open till 8pm. Restaurants were serving specials.

The country band Cowboy Chrome headlined and kept the crowd dancing with Spider Mike providing some entertaining music as well. Also in Franklin Square Park artist Jim McIntosh painted and the Winding River Car Club showed off some great looking vehicles while Mr. Pís Bistro, Silver Coast Winery, Moore Street Market & Ports of Call Bistro provided the crowd samples. Keziah Park would not be outdone and with Gracie & Tic Toc the Clowns, Stanley Mandell on Violin, Kenís Accordion, Madison Brendelís clogging demonstrations, Mr. Pís serving samples from their childrenís menu and games with Sandy it was a fun evening for the children.

Southport Beat is organized by the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by Dosher Memorial Hospital & The State Port Pilot. Over 20 shops and restaurants are participating in the event.

The next Southport Beat will be on Friday, July 20th from 5pm-8pm in Franklin Square & Keziah parks.
