SECU Hospice House Grand Opening
June 24
May 25, 2012 - Bolivia, NC - Lower Cape Fear Hospice &
Life Care Center is pleased to invite the community to
the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick grand opening from 1
to 4 p.m. June 24 at 955 Mercy Lane SE off Old Ocean Hwy
in Bolivia. Festivities include tours of the hospice
care center, refreshments, and music.
SECU Hospice House is an inpatient hospice care center
for patients in Brunswick County. It includes seven
private patient and family suites, open courtyard
gardens, a comfortable living room, a solace room,
kitchen, dining, and laundry rooms–all designed to meet
the needs of hospice patients and their visiting
caregivers, loved ones, and families.
Hospice House offers medical and respite care in a
comfortable, homelike setting. Most hospice patients are
served in their home. Patients are admitted to a hospice
care center for around-the-clock pain and symptom
monitoring, for family members to gain care giving
skills or receive rest from care giving, and if home
care is not possible during the last days of life. Also,
care centers serve as training centers for clinical
students and offer educational programs on end-of-life
topics.
Louie Lewis donated more than seven acres for the
Hospice House site. WJ and Sibyl McLamb served as
co-chairs of the Closer to Home capital campaign, which
was funded by more than 3,000 donors. The total amount
raised will be announced at the grand opening.
“We are profoundly grateful for the outpouring of
support for SECU Hospice House. We want to share our
excitement in enhancing the end-of-life care choices and
bringing a care center closer to home for residents of
the Brunswick County region,” says Lower Cape Fear
Hospice & LifeCareCenter President & CEO Laurie Bystrom.
“We look forward to seeing everyone at the grand
opening.”
