September
6, 2011 - Ocean Isle Beach, NC - Today the Ocean
Isle Beach Chapter of the American Wine Society
announced the theme for its next scheduled meeting.
"We are very excited to announce that our local
chapter will be participating in the 2011 National
Tasting Project: "Merlot- The Wine that Gets No
Respect."
The National Tasting Project is an opportunity for
American Wine Society Chapters across the United
States to sample the same group of wines and compare
their scores to other AWS chapters. Project
organizers work very hard to select wines that
represent the theme while being available to AWS
Chapters nationwide.
The event will be a blind tasting with wines from
France, Australia, California, and Washington” said
Barwikowski, Chapter Chair. "This is an excellent
way to learn about Merlot; its origins, history and
popular growing regions. Everyone is welcome."
Chapter meetings are hosted by
Silver Coast Winery at their facility located at
668 Barbeque Rd. Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469. The
meeting will be held on September 18th starting at
4:30 PM. The cost of the tasting will be $10, and we
encourage all to bring their favorite wine glass for
this event. Prior to the tasting, the chapter will
hold a brief meet and greet social with wine and
cheese being served.
All those planning to attend this National Tasting
Project event are asked to RSVP, by 9/16 via e-mail
to
OceanIsleAWS@gmail.com.
