Silver Coast Winery, the winner of approximately
300 medals for exceptional wine, has won two
additional medals from the 2011 Los Angeles
International Wine and Spirits Competition. The Los
Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition
arose 72 years ago shortly after Prohibition.
Beginning with only judging California wines, they
soon grew to be not only a world class staple of
competition with almost 100 international judges,
but a boosting and thriving educational foundation.
This year the wine competition received 3,117 wines
from 913 wineries from all over the world. Some of
the participating counties included Argentina,
Australia, Canada, Chile, Ethiopia, France, Germany,
Greece, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, New Zealand,
Romania, Portugal, Spain and the United States.
Silver Coast Winery took home two bronze medals for
their Seyval Blanc, North Carolina, 2010 and the
Portuguese Style Red Blend, Tesouro, Georgia, 2004.
“It is always encouraging when your wines receive
recognition,” said Dana Keeler, Silver Coast’s
winemaker, “Especially on an international stage
such as the Los Angeles Wine and Spirits
Competition. With over three thousand wines
competing, garnering two bronze medals is an honor.”
