Southport, NC - The 13th
Annual
Oak Island Lighthouse Run & Walk will be held
Saturday, April 16th kicking off at 8:30am. The
Annual event has grown each year with a record
participation last year of 510 people and estimated
economic impact over $128,000.
A great family event, the Oak Island Lighthouse Run
& Walk showcases the beautiful beach communities of
Oak Island and Caswell Beach. The 10k (6.2 miles)
start area is at the Cape Fear Regional Jetport.
This scenic route will cross the G.V. Barbee Bridge,
travel through the holly tree lined streets of the
Yaupon Beach section of Oak Island, run parallel
with the beachfronts in Oak Island and Caswell
Beach, passing the
Oak Island Lighthouse just before
the finish line inside the N.C. Baptist Assembly.
The 5k (3.1 miles) route is just as scenic as it
begins at the Caswell Beach Town Hall running
parallel with the beachfront, passing the Oak Island
Lighthouse just before the finish line inside the
N.C. Baptist Assembly.
For the first time, Oak Island Lighthouse Run & Walk
will use ChronoTrack Tag Timing. The race number
tags will have timing tags emended and as the
participants cross the line their times will be
recorded. The disposable timing tags are convenient
for the runners and reduce the chance for placement
errors.

Southport donates an original design
featuring the Oak Island Lighthouse which will be
used on the t-shirt and on the 80 print awards given
to the winners in the 5k & 10k events. Awards are
presented to top three runners overall Male &
Female, top three runners Male & Female in 12 age
brackets and Overall Male & Female Active Military.
A Fun Run for children 10 and under will also be
held at 9:30am at the N.C. Baptist Assembly. All
children who enter this event will receive a medal
when they cross the finish line. Registration for
this event ends on April 16th at 8am.

Beach Road, Southport. Race Packet Pickup and
Registration will be held on April 15th from 5pm-7pm
@ The Chamber Welcome Center or on Saturday, April
16th from 6:30am-8:00am @ N.C. Baptist Assembly at
Fort Caswell. Entry fee is $25.00 per person for the
5k or 10k and $5 for the fun run.
