February 10,
2011 - Ocean Isle Beach, NC - Attention Home Wine Makers!! Wines
are being accepted now for Silver Coast Winery’s annual Amateur
Wine Maker’s Competition.
Home wine
makers can submit as many wines as they like in the competition.
There are 3 major categories: White Grape, Red Grape and
Specialty. These are broken down into 3 lesser categories each.
For example the White Grape Category consists of a Vinifera
class, a Hybrid Class and a Native Class. Fruit wines are
entered into the Specialty Category.
The wines are
judged by the panel of judges headed by Silver Coast Wine Maker,
Dana Keeler. They blind taste the wines and write down their
comments and tips on how the wine could have been made better.
The wines have gotten better year after year as the winemakers
gain the experience and knowledge from these competitions.
Entry forms
can be gotten on the website,
www.silvercoastwinery.com or at the winery. Each entry must
be on a separate entry form with a $5.00 fee for each one
