The Brunswick Civil War Round Table
To Offer A "Behind The Scenes" Look At The War

Civil War Historian and Living History Interpreter - Charen FinkJanuary 26, 2011 - Southport, NC - Attendees at the next Round Table meeting on Tuesday evening, February 1st are in for a treat. The meeting will feature historian and living history interpreter Charen Fink, R.N., M.Ed. presenting in period dress. Her presentation is entitled, "Civil War Women: Spies, Nurses and Homemakers."

The program will be informative and entertaining to both Civil War buffs as well as those who wish to know more about this important period in our country’s history. It will focus on the importance and impact 19th century women played during this period from a number of different perspectives, including their daily lives, and their varied trials and tribulations. Her unique presentation is a way to gain another important insight about the War Between the States, beyond the various battles and battlefield tactics, military personnel and munitions.

Ms. Fink has been a living history interpreter over the last twenty years. Her credentials and affiliations are most impressive. They include being the past president of the Mahoning Valley Civil War Round Table, Society of Civil War Surgeons, National Museum of Civil War Medicine, Society of Women of the Civil War, Austintown Historical Society, Southport Historical Society, Cape Fear Civil War Round Table, and is currently a director of the Brunswick Civil War Round Table.

The February 1st meeting will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 E. Nash St., Southport, across from the Southport Post Office. Registration will begin at 6:30. Everyone is invited. There is no admission fee, but attendees are encouraged to become BCWRT members. Annual dues are $25 for individuals and families and $10 for students.

The Round Table is a non-profit organization, dedicated to disseminate knowledge about the Civil War to area residents by inviting renowned historians and authors to be guest speakers each month.
