March 1, 2007 – Southport, North Carolina (NC) - Below, please find upcoming events for The Southport/Oak Island Chamber of Commerce for the month of March:

March 1st from 5:30pm - 7:00pm Chamber members will be doing Business After Hours at the Advanced Flooring Supplies, Inc. Advanced Flooring Supplies, Inc. is located at 3846 Highway 87 in Boiling Spring Lakes (from Southport-Oak Island on left, before South Brunswick High/Middle Schools). If you haven't called The Chamber to RSVP yet, no problem, call today 457-6964.

Saturday, March 3rd at 5:30pm make sure to watch the premiere of "Cruising Carolina: Cape Fear" on UNCTV. "Cruising Carolina: Cape Fear" is the second installment in the popular Cruising Carolina series of specials for public television. The first program in the series, "Cruising Carolina: The Northern Albemarle" was nominated for an EMMY. "Cruising Carolina: Cape Fear" is produced by BlueWater Media, a full service television and video production company with offices in Raleigh & Southport. The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce, along with The City of Wilmington, Mary Ann McCarthy of Prudential Burroughs and Chapin Realty, ElectriCities of North Carolina, Margaret Rudd & Associates REALTORS, Dosher Memorial Hospital, Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation, Security Savings Bank and Crocker's Marine provided support for the program.

Tuesday, March 6th the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce and Brunswick Community College Small Business Center will hold the 8th Annual Brunswick County Economy: Outlook 2007. Dr. William W. Hall, Jr., Department of Economics & Finance Cameron School of Business, UNCW will give a statistical picture of 2006 and give his projection for the economic outlook on 2007. The North Carolina State Ports Authority sponsors the Port City Java refreshments for the event. This seminar fills up quickly so, please make sure to call and reserve your seat.

March 1st - March 9th the Chamber will be selling tickets for the Elevate the Arts Auction. The event will be on Sunday, March 11th from 2pm-5pm at the Southport Community Building. Proceeds will benefit the Elevator Fund for Franklin Square Gallery. Admission for the Auction is $10. They have collected from our business community some really great items for auction - golf packages, vacation opportunities, sailing lessons, artwork, unique and unusual items. Don't miss out on the deals. Stop by The Chamber today and purchase your ticket.

Sunday, March 11th - New Daylight Savings Time begins. Move clocks ahead one hour. Be aware it may cause some programming errors for electronics programmed prior to the announcement of the Daylight Savings change.

Wednesday, March 14th the Chamber will have representation at the 65th North Carolina Citizens for Business & Industry (North Carolina's State Chamber) Annual Meeting in Durham. Dave Kelly, Co-Chair of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the Chamber will be attending. The meeting will include a legislative briefing, a power lunch & keynote speaker Ken Lewis, President & CEO of Bank of America, and lobbying event at the Capital later that evening. Wednesday, March 21st the Southport Oak Island Area Chamber Of Commerce Ad Seminar & Expo - Advertising: Recipe for Success will be held at the Southport Community Building from 8:30am-10:30am. If you do, or are thinking about advertising in a newspaper, magazine, television, radio or if you print brochures, post cards or you are looking for someone to design you a website, new logo or just give you a makeover on your image then you need to attend this event. In order to have a booth at the event the company must provide our Chamber members a discount. The following companies will have a booth: Andrus Group, Cape Fear Wedding, Coastal Printing & Graphics, Insider's Guide, Next Media Group, Oak Island Press, OSW Sales & Marketing, Personalizit, Relocation Guide, Sister Publications, Southport Magazine, The Designatorium, The State Port Pilot, TimeWarner Cable, WECT TV6 and starting in March the new daily paper Brunswick Star News.

To get you started in the right direction the Chamber's Business Development Committee members Andru Miller, Andrus Group & Doug Mieden, Fiducial will give pointers on advertising trends and tracking techniques from 8:30am-9:00am. We would like to give special thanks to The Flying Pig Coffeehouse for providing coffee for this event.

March 25th - March 27th the North Carolina Tourism, Film & Sports Development Office will hold the annual Governor's Conference on Tourism. This year's conference will be located at Sea Trail Golf Resort & Conference Center in Sunset Beach.

We understand there is still opportunity to put your business logo on the 500 t-shirts for the Oak Island Lighthouse 10K & 5K run/walk. This event will be held on Saturday, April 14th on Oak Island.
