New Programs/Events
Santa Claws with Paws
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor Santa
Claws with Paws on December 10, 2005 from 12-2pm at the Teen Center.
Your dog/puppy can shop for a Christmas gift for you at the event.
The dog picks the gift ranging from $1-$5. Call 278-5518 to
register.

December 21st- Dress a Bear-Recreation Center-2-4:30pm $2 ages 5-18
December 22nd- Holiday Fun- Bowling, Crafts, and Games-Recreation
Center-8-4:30pm $12 ages 5-18

Senior Shopping and Lunch
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a
shopping trip to Myrtle Beach on Wednesday, December 14th. The trip
will depart the Recreation Center around 9am to visit the Tanger
Outlets. The group will also dine at an area restaurant. Cost is $5
per participant. Fee excludes lunch and purchases. Pre-registration
is required. Call 278-5518 to pre-register.
In-line Hockey League
Registration
Boys and girls, ages 6-18, may register to join this hockey league
for in-line roller skaters. Fee is $15 for residents and $20 for
non-residents. Call 278-4747 for more information. Register at the
Oak Island Recreation Center.
Scrabble Sessions
OIPRD would like to invite adults, ages 18 and older, to participate
in Scrabble Sessions on the first and third Wednesdays of each
month. Sessions for December will be December 7th and December 21st.

Teen Center Hours
The Oak Island Teen Center hours are as follows: Tuesday through
Friday, 4-7pm and Saturday, 12-4pm. Call 278-6552 for more
information.
Ski Trip
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring two
three-day ski trips to Wintergreen Ski Resort. Dates are January
22-24 or February 13-15. Prices include transportation to and from
Oak Island, lodging, equipment rental, lessons, and three days of
unlimited skiing!! Prices are $229 per person for double
accommodations. More accommodation options are available. For more

Note: By Law, appropriate
car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80
pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs
involving transportation.
