Mrs. Louise Freeman Broadwell - Southport

Mrs. Louise Freeman Broadwell, 91 of Southport, died Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.

Mrs. Broadwell was born March 18, 1920 in Lumberton, NC, daughter of the late Andrew and Katy Freeman. At the time of her passing, she was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island, where she had been a member since 1980. She was a prior member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church in Pleasant Garden, NC. Mrs. Broadwell was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Broadwell who passed away in 1993, one sister, and four brothers.

Surviving are two sons, Larry Broadwell and wife Brenda of Lugoff, South Carolina, and Boyce Broadwell and wife Ginger of Oak Island; two daughters, Anne B. Whitt and husband Bill of Southport, and Jackie B. Pate and husband Bill of Greensboro; three sisters, Ida Belle Hardin, Christine Thorndyke, and Margaret Kinlaw and husband David Earl, all of Lumberton; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 22, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island with Reverend Charlie Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cape Fear Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Anne and Bill Whitt.

The family would like to thank the B Wing doctors and nursing staff at Dosher Memorial Hospital.
