Jonathan Lee Luhr -
Oak Island
Jonathan Lee Luhr,
age 68, of Oak Island died Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at
Universal Healthcare in Bolivia.
Mr. Luhr was born in Panama on August 11, 1943. He was a
member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. Mr.
Luhr graduated from Furman University and UNC Charlotte
with a BA in Business and a Masters in Education. He was
also a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, a 32nd
Degree Mason and taught for a time at Union Middle
School in Monroe. Mr. Luhr owned and operated Equipment
Leasing and Finance in Charlotte and was known by his
children as Pooh Bear.
Survivors include his wife Amanda Luhr of Oak Island;
three daughters, Michelle Menard of Charlotte, Chantal
Luhr of Dallas, Texas, and Marlena Luhr of New York; two
sisters, Marlene Sue O’Connor of Arizona, and Lois
Fogland of Washington; one grandchild, Maxine Menard;
friend and colleague Andy Smith and best friend Howard
Herman.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, July 29,
2012 at Ocean View United Methodist Church with Pastor
Fred Roberts officiating.
