Jerry LeBron Hagewood,
Sr. - Boiling Spring Lakes
Jerry
LeBron Hagewood, Sr. age 71 of Boiling Spring Lakes went
home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 7, 2012 at
Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in
Wilmington.
Mr. Hagewood was born September 23, 1940 in Chattanooga,
Tennessee, son of the late Jerry Lee Hagewood and Josie
Fields Hagewood. He retired from the United States Navy
having served 24 years and in the Vietnam Conflict. He
traveled extensively while on duty and his last base was
in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mr. Hagewood was a member of
the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 299 in Wilmington,
bass fishing clubs, and a Little League Coach. He also
loved to ride motorcycles. Mr. Hagewood was a loving
husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His
wife and family meant everything to him. He was preceded
in death by a brother Joel Lee Hagewood.
Survivors include his wife, Norma RoJean Hagewood of
Boiling Spring Lakes; son, Jerry LeBron Hagewood, Jr.
and wife Sandy of Leland; two daughters, Monica Jean
Winberry and husband Doyce of Searcy, Arkansas and
LaRinda Lynn Caudill and husband Keith of Boiling Spring
Lakes; one brother B.T. Hagewood and wife Carmen of Long
Island, New York; one sister Joyce Hagewood Cox and
husband Kenneth of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia; thirteen
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, January 12,
2012 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation
Service Chapel in Southport with Reverend Robert McClain
officiating. Burial will follow in Cape Fear Memorial
Park.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Hagewood’s son and grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Lower Cape Fear Hospice
and Dr. Dominic Palagruto and his staff for the care
they gave Mr. Hagewood.
