William James Tapp,
Jr. - Oak Island
William James Tapp,
Jr. age 74, of Oak Island died Wednesday, December 28,
2011 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in
Wilmington.
Mr. Tapp was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 25,
1937, son of the late William James Tapp and Madelyn
Mehargue Tapp. Mr. Tapp was a member of First Baptist
Church Oak Island. He had worked as a chaplain for
Department of Corrections in various locations and he
was very active with the Kairos Prison Ministry.
Survivors include his wife Maxine Tapp of Oak Island;
three sons Greg Tapp and wife Cal of Boston,
Massachusetts, Jeffrey Tapp of Boston, Massachusetts,
Tim Clontz of Morganton, North Carolina; two daughters
Carol Neal and husband Steve of Oak Island and Vickie
Hildebran of Morganton, North Carolina; one brother
Walter Tapp and wife Miriam of Tampa, Florida; 4
granddaughters and one grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday,
January 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church Oak Island with
Reverend Charlie Carter officiating.
