Hilburn - Riegelwood
William Guilford
Hilburn of Riegelwood, North Carolina, passed away on
September 4, 2011 at home after an extended battle with
cancer. He was born on December 2, 1930, in Bolivia,
North Carolina, to the late John Luke Hilburn and
Elizabeth Rabon Hilburn. He is survived by his wife,
Jean Ganey Hilburn, stepsons, Michael E. Fullwood
(Shelly), of Mill Creek, Steve Fullwood (Jill) of Oak
Island, stepdaughter in law, Nancy G. Fullwood, of
Leland, five grandchildren, Alexandria, Stephen, Hannah,
Michayla and Troy Fullwood, sisters, Bertha Hilburn of
Wilmington and Myrtie H. Sellers of Supply, a niece,
Joyce Hicks and two nephews, David Sellers and William
Hickman. He was preceded in death by his sister,
Maybelle H. Hickman and stepson, Ronny Fullwood.
Bill graduated from Bolivia High School and served his
country honorably in the U.S. Air Force and N.C.
National Guard. He worked in the television field and
retired from the Brunswick County School System as A.V.
technician. He was an avid bowler and fisherman, a
wonderful and loving husband, stepfather, grandpa,
brother and friend. He will be missed so very much by
all who love him.
Graveside services will be held at 11 o’clock A.M. on
Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Northwood Cemetery,
Fodale Avenue, Southport, N.C., with Dr. Jonathan Kelly,
Minister, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church,
Acme Presbyterian, P.O. Box 339, Riegelwood, N.C. 28456,
Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Columbus County House, 1414
Physicians Drive, Wilmington, N.C. or to the charity of
your choice.
