Piece of Long Beach Pier
Description: This is an actual piece of Long Beach Pier that was acquired in January of 2006 prior to the demolition of the pier. The pier was demolished in the fall of 2006 to make way for oceanfront homes. The pier was built in the mid-1950s. It is impossible to tell the age of this particular piece of wood because the pier was damaged many times over its 50 year existence by Hurricanes and Tropical Storms. It is obvious that this particular piece of wood is not from a recent repair, however, it is unlikely that this piece of wood is part of the original construction.
