August 14, 2012 - Southport, NC – Southport Beat will transform the evening in Southport to a festive and exciting atmosphere on Friday, August 17th from 5pm-8pm in Keziah & Franklin Square Parks. The goal of "Southport Beat" is to establish an evening of excitement and entertainment in Southport on a regular, on-going basis. Southport Beat has a broad range of entertainment & music available for visitors and residents to enjoy.

This month's entertainment in Franklin Square Park will feature Lenny Frank & Tommy Hutchinson Duo playing old rock & roll, beach music and country; Watercolor artist Jim McIntosh; Corn Toss with Jim & Honey and the Winding River Car Club. Keziah Park will feature the progressive rock tunes of “Narrow Escape”; Gracie & Tic Toc the Clowns & Games with Bob.

While the entertainment will be located in the parks the action will be Citywide as participating shops and restaurants will be open and rocking & rolling in their own way. Participating restaurants and shops will also be located in Franklin Square Park like Mr. P’s Bistro, Silver Coast Winery, & Ports of Call Bakery, Bistro & Market. A sampling of the shops adding their own excitement include 40% off summer apparel and hats at Boo & Roo’s, Magnolia Gifts will have 30-50% off selected merchandise and enjoy cookies and lemonade at The Painted Mermaid while you shop their 30% off clothing, shoes and accessories.
