Silver Coast Winery proudly announces the
acquisition of additional awards won in 2011. Three
medals were received at the Tasters Guild judging,
five in the Mid-Atlantic Southeastern wine
competition, and five medals at the NC State Fair
Wine Competition.
The Tasters Guild
is a nationwide society for food and wine
enthusiasts. Established in 1987, the guild promotes
consumers, wines, and foods in the wine and food
service industries. The Annual International Wine
Judging was held August 11-13 of this year when
hundreds of newly released wines were judged by
panels of experts. Silver Cost Winery took the
Silver medal for their 2007 Touriga, as well as the
2010 Seyval Blanc, and the Bronze medal for the 2004
Tesouro adding to the winery’s 300 national and
international medals garnered from various
competitions since they opened their doors in 2002.
The 2011
Mid-Atlantic Southeastern wine competition is
sponsored by The Dixie Classic, one of the oldest
and largest fairs in North Carolina. The Dixie
Classic is an annual fair held in Raleigh in early
autumn. A total of 544 wines were entered into the
Mid Atlantic Southeastern wine competition. Silver
Coast brought home silver medals for its 2010 Seyval
Blanc, 2008 Cabernet Franc and 2009 American Oak
Chardonnay as well as a bronze medal for their
Viognier.
The twelfth NC
State Fair Wine Competition was held on October 5-6,
2011 featuring 444 wines competing in the commercial
division. The 2010 White Merlot merited a bronze
medal. The 2007 Touriga, 2009 Cabernet Franc, and
the 2010 Stainless Chardonnay all won silver medals.
The big victory was the 2010 Seyval Blanc winning
the double gold medal, meaning that every judge on
the panel recommended a gold medal for the wine.
“The quality of
the fruit coming out of the South Eastern region
continues to grow every year” Says Dana Keeler, the
winemaker at Silver Coast Winery, “elevating the
quality of wine we can produce. This is an exciting
time for North Carolina wineries and Silver Coast
Winery in particular. We appreciate the recognition
of our wines by the Tasters Guild, the Mid Atlantic
Southeastern wine competition, and the NC State
Fair.”
