Southport Historical Society Meeting Announcement

It seems like a long, long time from May to September but we are alive and well and it’s time for us to meet again!

Pot Luck Supper & Meeting
Thursday, September 22 – 6:30 p.m.
Southport Community Building

The Program:
Brunswick County Comprehensive Historical Survey
For the past couple of years, Brunswick County has been taking stock of its history, including buildings, cemeteries, sites where tiny villages once stood (and some still do).

Did you know Brunswick County has 100 unincorporated communities?

Christopher Gibbons knows that and a lot more and will unveil what was found in the survey he oversaw in his position with the Brunswick County Planning Department. Southport Historical Society took an initiative interest along with the Brunswick County Historical Society to petition our commissioners to fund the survey and we are especially pleased that this important task has just about reached completion. Come hear Chris tell us how it is all coming together.

We’ll be Looking for You!
