Garners Multiple Awards At The
11th Annual Finger Lakes International Wine Competition
May 5, 2011 - Ocean Isle Beach,
NC - Silver Coast Winery’s 2008 Cabernet Franc,
produced from grapes grown in North Carolina and
2007 Touriga, a beautiful, earthy, Bordeaux style
red wine, each took a bronze medal in the 11th
Annual Finger Lakes International Wine Competition
held March 26-27, 2011, at the Rochester Plaza
Hotel, 70 State St., Rochester, NY. Since it’s
opening in 2002 this brings their total medals to
252 International awards for Brunswick County’s only
winery.
Dubbed as North America's largest charitable wine
competition, it had a record-breaking year with
3,259 wines from 788 wineries entered. The wines
came from 19 nations, six Canadian provinces and all
50 states Proceeds from the competition and a gala
dinner in May go to Camp Good Days and Special
Times, dedicated to improving the quality of life
for children, adults and families battling cancer.
Silver Coast Winery is a full winemaking
facility housing an eclectic art gallery, unique
gift shops, with beautiful picnic grounds. Private
parties as well as corporate parties and weddings
are welcome. Tours and Tastings are available
January and February Wed-Sun 12:00-5:00pm, Fridays
till 6:00pm, March –December Monday through Saturday
11:00am – 6:00pm and on Sunday Noon until 5:00pm.
