Teacher Appreciation

The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of
Commerce Education Committee appreciates the job
teachers are doing to educate and prepare the future
workforce. To recognize the dedicated teachers in
our schools The Chamber presented a token gift of
our appreciation. The Chamber worked with school
officials and fellow teachers to select one teacher
in each of the nine schools in its service area.
The teacher selected at Town Creek Elementary School
was Carolyn Yarbrough.
Mrs. Carolyn Yarbrough is the recipient of the
beautiful beach chair donated by the Southport-Oak
Island Chamber of Commerce. She is a phenomenal
teacher and educational leader, one who is dedicated
to teaching and learning. Mrs. Yarbrough maximizes
instructional time by teaching bell to bell to
ensure her students excel academically. Mrs.
Yarbrough willingly goes the extra mile and does
whatever it takes to meet the diverse needs of her
students. She, also serves as a Mentor to Initially
Licensed Teachers (ILTs) providing coaching, model
lessons, peer observations and support where needed.
She is admired, loved and well respected by
students, parents, colleagues and the school
community. Special thanks to the Southport-Oak
Island Chamber of Commerce for recognizing an
outstanding teacher.
