February 23, 2011 - Southport, NC - The N.C. 4th of July Festival is seeking individuals, groups or restaurants who would like to face off for bragging rights at its 1st Chowder Cook Off to be held on Sunday, March 27th from 1pm-4pm at the Oak Island Moose Lodge. All awards will be decided by People’s Choice Ballots of those attending and tasting chowder. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place in Professional Division and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place in Individual Division. There will be an overall Best Decorated Space award. No fee to enter the competition with an application deadline of March 14th. This is a fund raiser for the N.C. 4th of July Festival, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote patriotism and celebrate our nation’s independence. The general public is encouraged to place this event on their calendars. Advanced tickets are $8.00 and available at the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center, 4841 Long Beach Road. Tickets at the door will be $10.00.
