North Carolina (NC) - Below, please find upcoming events for The
Southport/Oak Island Chamber of Commerce for the month of August:
August Chamber events include:
Applications are now available at
the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce for The 11th
Annual Leadership Brunswick County program. This program offers
long time residents and newcomers the opportunity to explore the
needs of Brunswick County and to better understand the individuals
and services responsible for meeting those needs. Those selected to
participate will meet once a month from September through May.
Topics covered include history & culture, government, justice and
law enforcement, education, environment, health and human services
and economic development. Application Deadline is September 6th.
This program is sponsored by Brunswick Community College and the
Southport-Oak Island Area, North Brunswick and Brunswick County
chambers of commerce.
We hope everyone is planning on attending the Business After Hours
on August 17th at Carillon Assisted Living from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
Carillon Assisted Living is planning a wonderful event complete with
door prizes, entertainment by Ron & Kathie Lee, very heavy hors
d'oeuvres & of course beverages. This is a beautiful facility we
hope you take advantage of the opportunity to visit. Directions:
Turn onto Leonard Street (beside the plaza with Cat on a Whisk,
Fiducial and Live Oak Deli). Follow Leonard Street 3.2 miles &
Carillon will be on the left. If you have not already, please RSVP
to 457-6964 and let us know if you plan to attend.
The next Business After Hours will be on September 21st from
5:30pm-7:30pm at Family Chiropractic Plus, 4870-1 Long Beach Road,
Southport (next to Surf Cinema).
The Chamber's Business Development Committee has been hard at work
looking for ways to increase your opportunities to make business
contacts. The Speed Networking Events are fun and structured
networking events. Feedback from most who have attended felt they
made contacts that led to additional business. The next Speed
Networking event is September 20th from 8am-9am at Cape Fear
Restaurant & Lounge, 101 West Bay Street, Southport. The event is
cosponsored by Cape Fear Restaurant & Lounge & The Traveling
Dolphin.
On August 31st we will hold a different and new networking event
called Business Before Breakfast from 8am-9am at Oak Island Beach
Realty Office, 8806 E. Oak Island Drive, Oak Island. Patterned
after Business After Hours this will be a drop in style meet and
mingle. It is sponsored by Oak Island Beach Realty, Inc.
We urge you to consider Grand Openings as networking events & as a
potential business lead. The next opening will be on Wednesday,
August 16th at the new Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty Office
Complex, 4911 Long Beach Road, Southport. The ribbon cutting for
Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Realty, Nationwide Insurance & Alpha
Mortgage @ Sea Coast will be held at 2pm. They will hold an Open
House from 2pm-6pm with heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
