Silver Coast
Winery Wins 2 Awards
Press
Release
February 3, 2006 – Ocean Isle
Beach, North Carolina (NC) -
Silver Coast Winery has kicked off the new year in high spirits,
receiving two awards in the 2006 San Francisco Chronicle Wine
Competition. The new 2004 vintage of Premium Oak Chardonnay was
lauded a bronze medal, the first for this wine since its debut from
the cellar. The 2004 Touriga was also awarded a bronze medal. No
surprise, seeing that this wine has been a favorite with competition
judges and winery staff and visitors alike. A total of 3,318 wines
were judged by 55 wine professionals. There were a large number of
participants from major media as well as wine trade specific
publications.
The lion’s share of wine
entries came from West Coast producers, many of which have a “big
boy” reputation in the wine world. The Premium Oak Chardonnay scored
neck and neck with wines from V. Sattui, Flora Springs, and J. Lohr,
to name a few. The Touriga competed with wines of similar style from
Artesa, Fetzer Vineyards, and Bonny Doon. Silver Coast Winery has
high expectations for several more awards as the new year
progresses.
