New Programs/Events
Lunch Break Yoga
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will offer Lunch
Break Yoga on Wednesdays. The classes will begin at noon and last
for approximately 30 minutes. Take a break from work and relieve
some stress. Fee will be $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents
per class. Pre-registration required. Space is limited. Call

Tennis Lessons
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will offer tennis
lessons for the following groups:
Future Stars- For ages 6-12
and designed for students to learn the fundamental strokes and
techniques for a solid basic foundation. The classes will be held on
Fridays from 3:30-4:30pm or 4:30-5:30pm. Fee is $50 for five weeks.
Lessons to begin in March.
Adult Tennis-Designed for
beginner and intermediate players. Emphasis is on building proper
strokes and techniques, movement, court sense, strategy, and fun!
Meets on Thursdays at 10am. The fee is $50 for five weeks. Lessons
to begin in March.

Dixie Girls Softball League
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for the Dixie Girls Softball League. The league is open
to girls ages 6-18 and groups will be divided as follows: 6-8, 9-12,
13-15, and 16-18. Teams will play against other county teams such as
Lockwood Folly, Town Creek, Shallotte, and Leland. Practices will be
held at the softball field at Middleton Park. Games will be held
primarily on weeknights and practices will be held according to the
team coach’s schedule. No more than 2 practices per week. Coaches,
referees, and team sponsors are also needed. Deadline to register is
February 24th. Fee is $20 for residents and $26 for non-residents.

Kickboxing Classes
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for kickboxing classes. The classes are scheduled to be
held on Mondays from 5-6pm and on Saturdays from 9:30-10:30am. Cost
will be $26/month for residents and $31/month for non-residents.

Pilates Classes
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for Pilates classes. The classes are scheduled to be
offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:15-8:15pm. Cost will be
$26/month for residents and $31/month for non-residents. Classes are
scheduled to begin Monday, February 13th. Call

Teen, Preteen, and Youth
Activities
Tween Walkers- Saturdays, 11am meet at Teen Center ages 10-18
February 11th- Remote Ramping-Sk8 Park-10am ages 10-18
February 16th- Teen Council Meeting-5:30pm Teen Center ages 10-18
February 17th- Mother-Son/Father-Daughter Dance-Recreation
Center-5-7pm $5/couple ages 5-18
February 20th- Presidential Fun Day-Cape Fear
Serpentarium-8:30am-4:30pm $12 ages 5-18
February 24th- Cooking-Recreation Center 5-6:30pm ages 5-9

Senior Valentine Dance
Bring your sweetheart or a friend to the senior Valentine Dance,
Friday, February 17th, from 7-8:30pm at the Oak Island Recreation
Center. There will be dancing, food, and lots of fun. Fee is $2 per
person. Pre-registration is required. Call 278-5518 for more
information.
Note: By Law, appropriate
car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80
pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs
involving transportation.
