New Programs/Events

Teen, Pre-teen, and Youth Activities
December 22nd- Holiday Fun- Bowling, Crafts, and Games-Recreation Center-8-4:30pm $12 ages 5-18
December 29th- DMV- ID Cards- 9am $10 ages 10-18

In-line Hockey League Registration
Boys and girls, ages 6-18, may register to join this hockey league for in-line roller skaters. Fee is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. Call 278-4747 for more information. Register at the Oak Island Recreation Center.

Scrabble Sessions
OIPRD would like to invite adults, ages 18 and older, to participate in Scrabble Sessions on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The next sessions will be held January 4th and January 18th. Pre-registration is required. Call 278-5518 to pre-register.

Ski Trip
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring two three-day ski trips to Wintergreen Ski Resort. Dates are January 22-24 or February 13-15. Prices include transportation to and from Oak Island, lodging, equipment rental, lessons, and three days of unlimited skiing!! Prices are $229 per person for double accommodations. Concert
Join the Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department for a musical journey down memory lane that will include singing, hand clapping, foot stomping, and whistling. Dr. Tony Florio will be performing on January 6th at the Oak Island Recreation Center, beginning at 7pm. The event is open to individuals of all ages.

Musical Theatre Demo
Are you interested in musical theatre and acting? Do you want to learn more about this area of performing arts? Come find out what it’s all about on January 13th at 5pm. Denise Greene will be on hand to give a demonstration for youth in grades 1-12. Pre-registration is required. Call 278-5518 for more information.

Lunch Break Yoga
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will offer Lunch Break Yoga on Wednesdays beginning January 11th. The classes will begin at noon and last for approximately 30 minutes. Take a break from work and relieve some stress. Fee will be $2 for residents and $3 for non-residents per class. Pre-registration required. Space is limited. Call 278-5518 for more information.

Note: By Law, appropriate car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80 pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs involving transportation.
