Teen, Pre-teen, and Youth
Activities
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will offer the
following activities:
October 22nd-23rd- Boys’
Camping Trip-Lake Waccamaw State Park $15 ages 10-18
October 27th- Spooky Ghost Stories-Rec. Center 7pm ages 8 and up
October 28th- Halloween Carnival- Rec. Center 5-7pm all ages
October 29th- Remote Ramping at Sk8 Park, 9-10am ages 10-18
October 29th- Sk8 Park Adventures, 10am-noon ages 10-18
October 29th- Halloween Party-Rec. Center, 5-8pm $2 ages 10-18
October 31st- Spooky Fun Monday-8:30am-4:30pm $12 ages 5-18

Musical Theatre Demo
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Musical
Theatre Demo on Friday, October 21, 2005 at 5:30pm. The event is
open to youth ages 7-18. Come join the fun! Pre-registration

Kids Golf Clinic
Head pro, Robert Spangler, will offer instruction to youth, ages 16
and under, on beginning or improving golf skills. The clinic will be
held at the Oak Island Golf Course on October 22 at 10am. The fee is
$5, clubs will be provided. Call 278-4747 for more information.
In-line Hockey League
Registration
Boys and girls, ages 6-18, may register from October 20th through
November 11th to join this hockey league for in-line roller skaters.
Practice will begin in November. Fee is $15 for residents and $20
for non-residents. Call 278-4747 for more information. Register at
the Oak Island Recreation Center.
Spook Fest Skate-a-thon
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a Spook
Fest Skate-a-thon at the Skate Park on October 29th from 7-9pm. Free
admission to everyone who dresses in a Halloween costume. Strobe
lights, snacks, and FUN!!! Call 278-4747 for more information.
Get Moving Again Oak Island
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department would like to
challenge residents to complete a town goal of 200,000 minutes of
movement in a 10-week time frame. The Department also wants to meet
a goal of at least 75 total participants. Join us as we strive to
increase the physical activity level of our community. Pre-register
at the Recreation Center or by calling 278-5518.
Arts By The Shore
Arts By The Shore, the 11th annual judged art show held by Oak
Island Parks and Recreation and the Oak Island Art Guild will be
held November 4, 2005 from 12 pm to 8:00 pm and November 5, 2005
from 9 am – 4:30 pm at the Oak Island Recreation Center, 3003 E. Oak
Island Drive, Oak Island, NC. Reception will be held on November 6,
2005 from 1-4 pm. Awards will be presented at 2 pm. Work will be
picked up at 4 pm. Call 278-5518 for more information on the
registration process.
Fishing Clinic-Inshore
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a
fishing clinic on November 12th at the Oak Island Recreation Center,
beginning at 10am. Fee is $5. Captain Rick Bennett will lead an
informative and hands-on clinic with emphasis on reds, flounder,
trout, Spanish, bonito, cobia, barracuda and more. Space is limited.

Note: By Law, appropriate
car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80
pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs
involving transportation.
