New Programs/Events
Celebration of Oak Island
The Celebration of Oak Island will be held on October 8, 2005 at
Middleton Park from 10am-2pm. The event will include entertainment,
inflatable rides, community informational booths, food vendors,
karaoke, and more. Free admission. Volunteers needed. Call 278-5518

Teen, Pre-teen, and Youth
Activities
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department will offer the
following activities:
September 30th- Family Sports
Night-Morrison Field- 6-8pm all ages
October 1st- Family Farm Heritage Day-9-4:30 $2 per family all ages
October 10th- Day of Great Adventures-8:30-4:30 $12 ages 5-18

50+ Softball Registration
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department is currently taking
registration for 50+ Softball. Women, ages 18 and over, and men ages
50 and over, may register at the Recreation Center. League play will
begin tentatively September 27th. Fee is $10 for residents and $15
for non-residents. Call 278-4747 for more information.
Skate Park Hours
The hours for the Oak Island Skate Park will be as follows:
Fridays- 4-9pm
Saturdays 10am-9pm
Sundays 1-8pm

Nature and Ocean Education
Center Hours
The Oak Island Nature Center and Ocean Education Center are open
Friday-Sunday from 12-5pm. Call 278-4747 for more information.
Get Moving Again Oak Island
The Oak Island Parks and Recreation Department would like to
challenge residents to complete a town goal of 200,000 minutes of
movement in a 10-week time frame. The Department also wants to meet
a goal of at least 75 total participants. Join us as we strive to
increase the physical activity level of our community. Pre-register
at the Recreation Center or by calling 278-5518.
Note: By Law, appropriate
car seats/booster seats are required for ages 8 and under or 80
pounds when participating in Recreation Department programs
involving transportation.
